BONDERITE^® L-FG 144 (previously known as Deltaforge 144) is a billet coating and die lubricant made from micrographite in a water base. The lubricant forms a lubricious, oxidation-resistant film on steel at high temperatures for warm forging, hot forming powder preforms, and challenging extrude-type forging operations. When used as a coating, it protects powder metal preforms before hot forming and lubricates and protects slugs from decarburization. As a die lubricant, BONDERITE^® L-FG 144 improves metal movement and die life, especially at extreme die temperatures and pressures. Dip application is recommended when used as a billet coating. BONDERITE^® L-FG 144 protects up to 871°C (1600°F) when applied to steel billets. When used as a die lubricant, spray application is recommended. It is an effective lubricant for extreme die temperatures exceeding 427°C (800°F).
