Tyzor® 217 is an aqueous chelate based on zirconium. It is used as a cross-linker and adhesion promoter in coatings, inks, adhesives and fracturing fluids.

Tyzor® 217 is a water-based zirconium chelate. It is stable at pH near neutral and is recommended for use in water-based formulations. Tyzor® 217 will react with hydroxyl groups, carboxyl groups, and other nucleophiles. It is an ideal crosslinking agent for carbohydrates and functionalized polymers. In oil well fracturing fluid applications Tyzor® 217 is used to crosslink dispersion of guar to form high viscosity gels. Tyzor® 217 can also we used to treat surfaces like glass and metal to improve adhesion of paints and coatings. It can also be added to paint, coatings and ink formulations to crosslink binders and pigments to improve cohesive strength. In addition, Tyzor® 217 is used to treat paper and textile surfaces to increase hardness and improve hydrophobicity.
