Tyzor® TE is a triethanolamine titanium chelate. It is an effective cross-linker, adhesion promoter, and curing agent for water-based paint and coating applications.
Tyzor® TE is a titanium triethanolamine complex. This Tyzor® grade will form a reactive hydroxy titanium chelate by undergoing hydrolysis, allowing it to be stable in aqueous formulations for extended periods. Tyzor® TE functions as an excellent cross-linker for carbohydrate-coated latex particles in thixotropic paints. It also cross-links pigments and binders in other waterborne systems, such as acrylic paints. This cross-linking functionality makes Tyzor® TE useful in oil well fracturing fluid applications using carbohydrate polymers, such as guar, where it forms high-viscosity aqueous gels upon cross-linking.
Tyzor® TE is also an excellent source of titanium for catalysis of esterification, transesterification, condensation, and addition reactions. As a catalyst, Tyzor® TE is used as a nontoxic replacement for sulfuric acid, tin, and other hazardous catalyst chemicals used in producing polyester polyols in adipic acid/BDO systems and phthalic acid/DEG systems.
