FireGard® ATO is a flame retardant and synergist used with brominated or chlorinated compounds to reduce flammability.
FireGard® ATO is an antimony trioxide used as a fire retardant (FR) in the presence of a halogen source. In PVC compounds, it can be used as the primary FR without the need for a halogen-based flame retardant. In other polymers without halogens, a chlorinated or brominated compound must be added to obtain flame retardancy.
Antimony trioxide (ATO) does not melt or vaporize during normal use and will not form vapors unless heated to extremely high temperatures.
FireGard® ATO is suitable for applications where a high tint is acceptable.
