FireGard® SA is an antimony synergist that can be used in combination with halogenated flame retardants by hindering the chain reaction of the flame gas phase.
St. Louis Group FireGard® SA is sodium antimonate used as a flame retardant synergist in acid-sensitive polymers, such as PET, PBT, PC, and polyamides. FireGard® SA is used in applications that need low tint strength, thereby maximizing the effect of pigments. FireGard® SA also helps produce semitransparent products.
Like antimony trioxide, FireGard® SA must be used in conjunction with a halogenated flame retardant. In PVC applications, it can be used as a stand-alone flame retardant additive. In other nonhalogen-containing resins, it must be used along with bromine or chlorine flame retardants.
