Univar Appoints Marco Antonio Quirino as President of Univar Brazil

REDMOND, Wash., May 6, 2013 – Univar Inc., a leading distributor of chemistry and related innovative products and services announced today the appointment of Marco Antonio Quirino as its new president of Univar Brazil. Quirino will manage the company’s Brazil business and operations and will report directly to Univar’s President and Chief Executive Officer Erik Fyrwald.
 
Quirno’s appointment marks Univar’s continued focus on growth in South America. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the chemical industry and has extensive knowledge of the Brazilian market. In his new role, he will be responsible for driving growth and managing operations and partner relationships across Univar’s key industries including polyurethanes, personal care, food, agrochemicals, coatings, and oilfield services. Quirino replaces Interim President Normand Goyer whom he will work with to transition over the coming weeks.

Prior to joining Univar Quirino worked with Braskem, Brazil’s leading petrochemical manufacturer that produces thermoplastic resins and basic chemicals with operations in Brazil, Latin America, USA, Europe, and Asia. He was responsible for the company’s commercial and industrial operations, including sales, planning, market development, customer service, production, and EH&S. Prior to Braskem, Quirino worked as vice president of Industrial and Commercial Operations with Quattor, a large petrochemical manufacturer. At Quattor, Quirino had P&L responsibility and oversaw a team of 550 employees. Marco began his career and spent 20 years with the Dow Chemical company where he held a number of sales, marketing, and general management positions, including Commercial Director for Plastics, Marketing Manager serving Latin America, and Account Manager.

Quirino earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mackenzie University and his MBA from the FIA Business School in Sao Paulo. He has also completed advanced management programs at the Wharton School of Business and INSEAD.
