DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. and SÃO PAULO, Brazil – November 3, 2014 – Univar Inc., a leading global chemical distributor of industrial and specialty chemicals and related chemistry services, announced today it has acquired D'Altomare Química Ltda., a Brazilian distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients, through Univar Brasil Ltda. The acquired business will be combined with Univar’s Brazil operations.
 
“This transaction expands Univar’s geographic footprint and market presence in Brazil and across Latin America,” said Univar President and Chief Executive Officer Erik Fyrwald. “D’Altomare’s portfolio of specialty ingredients, coatings, lubricants, and adhesives are a complimentary addition to our existing product portfolio. In addition, D’Altomare has a solid reputation as a value- added and solutions-driven service provider in high-growth specialty markets including personal care, pharmaceuticals, electronics and aviation.”
 
For more than 40 years, D’Altomare has specialized in the distribution of chemistries and specialty ingredients for the pharmaceutical, personal care, food, agriculture, transportation and other industrial markets. The company has headquarters in São Paulo, and operates distribution facilities in Embu and Manaus.
