Buchler's Cinchona alkaloids are extracted from the bark of the Cinchona tree. Quinine is used as a medicine in antimalarial and antiarrhythmic drugs. It is also a natural flavoring agent for tonic water, bitter lemon soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages. Furthermore Quinine Base is widely used in asymmetric synthesis applications.
