Overview

MOLYKOTE® automotive specialty lubricants are engineered to solve the small but critical friction problems inside modern vehicles – from seat tracks and window regulators to starter motor gears, control cables, switches, seals, and constant-velocity joints. These applications share the same challenge: components must run quietly and consistently over the life of the vehicle, often under wide temperature swings, vibration, and exposure to moisture, dust, and chemicals. DuPont’s MOLYKOTE® brand has been used for decades to reduce friction, wear, noise, and corrosion in powertrain, chassis, electrical, interior, and exterior systems for global OEMs and Tier suppliers.  

This product line combines synthetic and silicone-based greases, dielectric greases, and specialty lubricants that are compatible with common automotive plastics, elastomers, and metals, making them ideal for plastic-on-metal and plastic-on-plastic interfaces in body and interior components. MOLYKOTE® automotive lubricants are available in multiple NLGI grades and chemistries, including polyalphaolefin (PAO), mineral, and silicone technologies with lithium or other thickener systems and tailored additive packages. These formulations are matched to specific design needs such as very low startup torque at cold temperatures, resistance to water washout, long-term noise control, or protection in high-load, high-vibration joints.
