Eastman TamiSolve™ NxG is a dipolar aprotic solvent with good solvency for many types of compounds. It is a highly versatile solvent used across chemical formulations in industries and applications such as coatings, inks, cleaners, and electronics manufacturing. Compared to solvents like n-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and n-ethyl-2-pyrrolidone (NEP), TamiSolve™ NxG offers improved safety and health benefits because it is not classified as a reproductive toxicant. It may also be used as a safer solvent choice over dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and dipropylene glycol dimethyl ether (DMM).

Example applications of where TamiSolve™ NxG has been used include wire enamel and coated cooking gear coatings to replace NMP and NEP and as a cosolvent and coalescing aid in waterborne polyurethane dispersions (PUDs). TamiSolve™ NxG has also been used as a photoresist stripper in manufacturing microelectronics and as a safer solvent in the chemical synthesis of pharmaceutical compounds. Where NMP has been used in cleaning and paint stripper formulations, TamiSolve™ NxG has also been used as a safer solvent alternative with low volatility that still offers high performance.
