LOCTITE® 570
LOCTITE® 570 is a silver brown, opaque liquid thread sealant designed for locking and sealing large diameter metal pipes and fittings. It offers low strength retention, a slow cure to allow flexible assembly time, and thixotropic consistency to minimise migration when applied to vertical or overhead threads.
LOCTITE® 570 is formulated to cure anaerobically in the absence of air between closely fitting metal threads, creating a reliable seal that resists vibration, pressure, and leakage. Its slow curing nature provides the working time needed during installation while still delivering dependable sealing performance. Certified for use in hydrogen and potable water systems, it is well suited to demanding applications in the energy, fluid handling, and industrial sectors.
Specifications
Specific gravity approximately 1.08 Viscosity is 16 000–24 000 mPa·s (Brookfield RVT @ 20 rpm) Breakaway torque on metal fittings up to M80 ~5.5 N·m Service temperature range from –55 °C to +150 °C Available in 50 ml and 250 ml tubes
Primary Chemistry:
Methacrylate ester
Features & Benefits
The low strength formulation enables future disassembly using hand tools
Thixotropic flow control ensures neat application without run off
Slow cure profile provides flexibility during complex installations
Opaque colouring offers visual confirmation of coverage
Certifications include KIWA GASTEC and compatibility with hydrogen and potable water infrastructures
Problems Solved
Prevents leakage and loosening in large bore threaded pipe systems Eliminates the need for tape or mechanical locking solutions Supports hydrogen ready infrastructure with approved sealing solutions Reduces rework by ensuring a clean, secure seal even on vertical threads
Applications
Apply a 360° bead to male threads, tighten components to specification and allow slow cure to develop proper seal Ideal for large metal pipes and fittings, including BSPT and NPT styles Suitable for industrial, energy, plumbing and hydrogen applications Disassembly is possible using hand tools or by moderate heating where required
