N-Dodecyl Mercaptan, also called 1-dodecanethiol, DDT, lauryl mercaptan, and NDDM, from Chevron Phillips Chemical is a high-purity chemical intermediate that finds diverse applications in various industries. It is an excellent source of sulfur for the production of lubricant additives used in finished lubricants and metalworking fluids. N-dodecyl mercaptan is also used as a chemical reactant in the manufacture of antioxidants, and can be used to make certain polymers, such as polystyrene and acrylics. Additionally, it is a vital component in the production of pharmaceutical drugs, and used in the agrochemical synthesis of fungicides and insecticides.
