SYLOBLOC® 44

SYLOBLOC® 44 is a synthetic amorphous silica antiblocking agent with a large pore volume and an intermediate particle size relative to the SYLOBLOC® family of antiblocking agents. Being a manufactured silica product, SYLOBLOC® 44 has very few impurities that interact with polymers and degrade film quality. SYLOBLOC® 44 is typically incorporated into transparent polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polypropylene (PP) films between 20 and 50 µm. It is also often used as an anti-plate-out processing aid for PVC calendered films and sheets. SYLOBLOC® 44 provides high antiblocking efficiency, owing to its large pore volume, which provides a high surface area that imparts roughness on the surface of plastic films. SYLOBLOC® 44 possesses excellent optical properties that help prevent the distortion of clarity and visual quality of transparent films. If incorporated into PET films, it is recommended to be blended in via a slurry process. When used as an anti-plate-out processing aid, it helps reduce surface defects and contamination on PVC films. Film applications for SYLOBLOC® 44 include food packaging and electronic devices.
