SYLOBLOC® 46 is a silica antiblocking agent with high efficiency and excellent optical properties, typically used for transparent PET films.
SYLOBLOC® 46, composed of synthetic amorphous silica, is used as an antiblocking agent for transparent polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films. Being a manufactured antiblocking agent, it has very high purity and prevents reaction with other film components that can lead to compromised film performance or visual quality relative to other antiblocking products produced by mining. SYLOBLOC® 46 has one of the highest pore volumes and a relatively small particle size compared to the other SYLOBLOC® antiblocking agents. It is recommended for films less than 20 micrometers in thickness. The high pore volume of SYLOBLOC® 46 enables it to provide very high antiblocking efficiency on films. Along with possessing excellent optical properties, it creates a microscale roughness on the surface of plastic films that enables antiblocking performance without sacrificing transparency or visual clarity. In addition to preventing blocking, SYLOBLOC® 46 also aids in adding slip to plastic films, maintaining a balanced set of characteristics for high workability. SYLOBLOC® 46 is typically used in films for food packaging but may also be included in industrial applications.
