SYLOBLOC^® 47 is a synthetic amorphous silica (silicon dioxide) antiblocking agent supplied as a free-flowing powder with an intermediate pore volume and a large particle size. Among the SYLOBLOC^® antiblocking additive portfolio, SYLOBLOC^® 47 is highly versatile for use in different types of film. It is easily dispersed in single-layer polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) polymer melts. It also works well in masterbatch- or slurry-processed PET and functions as a matting and surface texturing agent and anti-plate-out processing aid for calendered PVC films and sheets. Despite its relatively large particle size, SYLOBLOC^® 47 possesses excellent optical properties that enable it to provide efficient antiblocking performance without compromising the visual quality or clarity of transparent plastic films. As SYLOBLOC^® 47 is a manufactured silica, it has a very high inherent degree of purity compared to other antiblocking agents produced by mining. This is primarily responsible for SYLOBLOC^® 47's efficiency as an additive. SYLOBLOC^® 47 is recommended for plastic films with thicknesses between 20 and 70 µm and helps improve slip on these films. It is typically incorporated into films used for food packaging, but which are also intended for use in a variety of industrial applications.
