SilGrip™ PSA6574 is a solvent-based silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) that offers good adhesion to low–surface energy substrates and outstanding thermal stability. This pressure-sensitive adhesive is supplied as a 55% solids solution consisting of a phenyl-based polysiloxane gum and a resin in toluene and VM&P Naphtha. It can be used as provided or further diluted to achieve an appropriate viscosity to coat onto tape and label stock.
When cured, the SilGrip™ PSA6574 adhesive is serviceable at temperatures up to 500°F and resistant to attack by chemicals, weathering, and microbes. Its high-temperature resistance makes it the most useful Momentive pressure-sensitive adhesive in tape applications for plasma and flame sprays, electrical insulation, and heat shielding. This adhesive also provides good performance in low-temperature environments, making it an ideal adhesive for freezer-safe labels.
SilGrip™ PSA6574 can also be used to bond materials as a replacement for mechanical fasteners in automotive and aerospace assembly. When used in assembly applications, SilGrip™ PSA6574 provides improvements to vibration damping. If increased peel and shear properties are desired, SilGrip™ PSA6574 may be blended with the SilGrip™ SR545 resin.
