Armolube® EM 202 is a readily biodegradable ethoxylated coco amine emulsifier that provides friction modification, corrosion inhibition, dispersancy, lubricity, and detergency to industrial and metalworking fluid formulations.
Armolube® EM 202 is a state-of-the-art emulsifier with excellent friction modification and lubrication benefits. It is designed for use in metalworking fluids and industrial lubricant formulations, and functions as a highly effective emulsifying agent. It promotes stable oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions with good hard-water tolerance and stability in acid and alkali systems. Formulated by Nouryon Chemicals as part of their line of specialty lubricant additives, it is a tertiary amine ethoxylate based on primary coco amine and functions as a multifunctional, weakly cationic co-emulsifier and wetting agent. The additive is readily biodegradable and ashless, and provides alkalinity to formulations. While primarily used as a co-emulsifier, Armolube® EM 202 provides a wide range of functional benefits, delivering detergency, lubricity, anti-wear, dispersency, and corrosion inhibition.

Emulsifiers play a critical role in many industrial and metalworking formulations. When emulsions fail, lubricant performance is impacted, affecting the quality and consistency of operations. Formulators can face challenges sourcing effective emulsifying agents, while optimizing costs and blending operations. Sustainability is also a growing concern. Non-biodegradable chemistries or additives with metal content create waste, are costly to dispose, or can contaminate soil and water and become toxic to the ecosystem.
