Armolube® EM 203 is a versatile tallow alkylamine ethoxylate valued for emulsification and multifunctional benefits in lubricants and cleaners.
Armolube® EM 203 is a readily biodegradable ethoxylated amine based on tallow alkylamine. It provides moderate alkalinity to formulations and multifunctional benefits to metalworking fluids, hydraulic fluids, and industrial cleaners, particularly as an emulsifying additive. Armolube® EM 203 is a weakly cationic co-emulsifier and wetting agent, and demonstrates excellent oil-in-water (O/W) co-emulsification and hard water tolerance, as well as high stability in acid and alkali systems. It is ideally suited for cutting and grinding fluid formulations and emulsifying Group II mineral base oils The additive also provides friction modification, lubrication, detergency, dispersancy, and corrosion inhibition. In water-based hydraulic fluid formulations, Armolube® EM 203 acts as a co-thickener, helping control the fluid's rheology. It is also commonly used in industrial cleaning formulations, including metal parts cleaning.

When emulsions fall apart in metalworking and industrial applications, fluid performance is often negatively impacted, resulting in shorter fluid life, equipment damage, and increased costs. Formulators designing finished lubricants often need to source multiple additives to serve different functions. This can cause complexities in supply chain and blending. In certain jurisdictions or environmentally-sensitive applications, lubricants and cleaners that are non-biodegradable or have high metal content can pose potential risks to the soil and water.
