Primary Chemistry: 2-Methyltetrahydrofuran
Features & Benefits
MeTHF can outperform tetrahydrofuran (THF) and methylene chloride/dichloromethane (DCM) in Grignard and other organometallic reactions Limited miscibility with water makes it great for easy product recovery Allows higher reaction temperature and lower losses from reactor condensers Effective solvent for biphasic reactions such as alkylation, amidation and nucleophilic substitution reactions.
Problems Solved
Poor performance of THF and DCM in organometallic reactions. Poor recovery of reaction products from reactor condensers.
