EPOLENE® C-15 is a highly branched polyethylene wax that was developed to be used as a base polymer in hot melt coatings for paper and packaging materials.
EPOLENE® C-15 is a medium molecular weight, highly branched, low density polyethylene (LDPE) polymer.
It was designed to be used as a base polymer in hot melt coatings paper and packaging materials where it exhibits high gloss, grease resistance, and low moisture vapor transmission.
EPOLENE® C-15 has also been used to make wax molds for lost wax casting applications.
In addition, the low density and softening point make EPOLENE® C-15 an excellent additive for color concentrates and additive masterbatch where it provides improved pigment dispersion and processing advantages.
These same properties make it a useful, low-cost processing aid for rubber compounding.
The improved dispersion of pigments provided by EPOLENE® C-15 in color masterbatch improve color yield and allow for a reduction in pigment consumption.
EPOLENE® C-15 also improves the dispersion of mineral fillers like calcium carbonate in masterbatch and reduces torque and back pressure during compounding.
This allows for a more efficient compounding process that requires less energy consumption.
