LOCTITE® 290
Loctite® 290 is a medium to high strength threadlocker designed for locking and sealing preassembled fasteners. Its low viscosity allows it to wick into threads by capillary action, eliminating the need for disassembly prior to application. It prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration and is ideal for sealing porosity in welds, castings, and powdered metal parts.
Loctite® 290 is a one-component, anaerobic adhesive that cures in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces. It is specifically formulated for locking and sealing threaded fasteners that are already assembled. The product’s low viscosity enables it to penetrate between engaged threads, making it suitable for applications where disassembly is not practical. Once cured, it provides a medium to high strength bond that resists vibration, shock, and leakage. Loctite® 290 is also effective in sealing porosity in welds and castings, enhancing the integrity of metal components.
