LOCTITE® 55 is a high-performance thread sealing cord designed for the sealing of metal and plastic pipe threads. It provides an instant, full-pressure seal and allows for easy adjustment of fittings after assembly.
LOCTITE® 55 is a reliable alternative to traditional sealing methods such as PTFE tape or hemp. Made from a high-strength multifilament cord impregnated with a non-curing sealing paste, it offers immediate sealing of metal and plastic threads, even under full pressure. It allows the joint to be repositioned after sealing without compromising performance, making it ideal for quick, accurate installations. The product is WRAS-approved for potable water applications and is resistant to a wide range of industrial fluids.

LOCTITE® 55 is wound directly onto clean male threads before assembly, following the recommended number of wraps based on thread size. Suitable for sealing threaded joints in potable water systems, gas lines, heating systems, and other fluid transfer applications. The seal is effective immediately upon assembly, and joints can be backed off for alignment without leakage.
