LOCTITE® 662
LOCTITE® 662 is a one-component medium strength, medium viscosity retaining compound designed for bonding cylindrical fitting parts including shafts, bushings and housings, particularly where surface curing outside the bondline may be required.
LOCTITE® 662 is engineered for reliable retention of cylindrical metal assemblies in industrial equipment. Its urethane methacrylate chemistry allows dual-cure capability—anaerobic when confined and UV-curing when exposed to sufficient light—ensuring that even narrow beads or parts that extend outside the bondline can be solidified securely. The medium viscosity enables efficient application in slip fits and press fits while providing dependable bonding in challenging conditions including vibration and thermal cycling. With an operating temperature range down to –55 °C and up to approximately +150 °C the compound supports durable performance in demanding mechanical systems.
Specifications
Colour: Yellow liquid Viscosity: 1 750 – 3 250 mPa·s ( Brookfield RVT, 25 °C ) Fixture time (steel): approximately 7 minutes Operating temperature range: –55 °C to +150 °C Primary Chemistry:
Urethane methacrylate
Features & Benefits
Provides flexible retention for cylindrical components that may require future servicing.
Dual-cure mechanism ensures full strength even in parts where surfaces extend beyond the joint or are exposed to light.
Medium viscosity allows precise application and good wetting of close-fitting metal parts.
Offers consistent performance in assemblies subject to vibration and thermal change.
Simplifies assembly by requiring no mixing and enabling application in one part.
Problems Solved
Stops fretting, loosening or movement in cylindrical assemblies that can result from vibration or axial load. Eliminates the need for separate adhesives for exposed and hidden surfaces by enabling UV or anaerobic cure. Reduces risk of failure in mechanical equipment caused by improper bonding or loosening. Supports longer maintenance intervals and more reliable throughput by improving joint integrity.
Applications
Apply LOCTITE® 662 to clean and dry metal surfaces of shafts, bushings or housings. For assemblies where part of the adhesive may remain exposed or where light access is possible, UV exposure can accelerate cure. For confined gaps, the anaerobic mechanism will cure once air is excluded. Ideal for bearing housings, gear and rotor assemblies, sprockets and other cylindrical components in transportation, industrial or power generation equipment.
