LOCTITE® 672
LOCTITE® 672 is a yellow fluorescent retaining compound designed for bonding cylindrical metal parts, offering medium strength and serviceability for assemblies subject to vibration or maintenance.
LOCTITE® 672 is engineered for the reliable retention of bearings, bushings, gears and shafts in metal-to-metal cylindrical fits where future disassembly may be required. Its one-component anaerobic formula cures when confined between close fitting metal parts with exclusion of air, producing a durable bond that resists loosening, fretting and leakage under shock or vibration. The fluorescent yellow formulation enables quick visual inspection of coverage under UV light. With low kinematic viscosity for easy application into narrow clearances (approx. 100-140 mPa·s) and shear strength on metal above 10 N/mm² after cure, it serves well in industrial, automotive and maintenance applications.
Specifications
Colour: Yellow fluorescent liquid. Viscosity: 100-140 mPa·s at 25 °C (uncured). Specific gravity: ~1.07 at 25 °C. Compressive shear strength (steel pins/collars, cured 24h @ 22 °C): ~10 N/mm². Breakaway torque on M10 black oxide bolts: 8-22 N·m. Prevail torque on M10 nuts: 3-14 N·m. Primary Chemistry:
Methacrylate ester
Features & Benefits
Provides a visually inspectable bond thanks to its fluorescent formula under UV light.
Cures anaerobically without mixing, simplifying assembly with one component.
Delivers medium strength retention while allowing disassembly for servicing.
Designed to bond closely fitted metal parts with tight clearances.
Resists loosening and leakage caused by vibration and dynamic loads.
Problems Solved
Prevents loosening or axial movement in cylindrical assemblies that are subject to vibration or shock.
Eliminates the need for pins, keys or additional mechanical locking devices in small-clearance fits.
Reduces risk of leakage or joint failure in housings and bearings where traditional fits may fail or require re-machining.
Enables maintenance of assemblies without sacrificing bond integrity or operational reliability.
Applications
Apply LOCTITE® 672 to clean, dry and properly prepared metal surfaces (shafts, collars, housings). For best results rotate one part during assembly to ensure full coverage. The adhesive cures when confined between metal parts excluding air. Once assembled, allow full cure period before applying full service loads. For parts requiring disassembly, apply localised heat (~250 °C) if needed.
