LOCTITE® AA 3201 LC
LOCTITE® AA 3201 LC is a transparent to slightly hazy, medium-viscosity, UV-curable adhesive that bonds plastics, glass and metals. Its thixotropic nature supports controlled application and minimises run-off.
LOCTITE® AA 3201 LC is engineered for high-speed assembly of components requiring optical clarity, flexibility and durability. When exposed to sufficient UV or visible light the adhesive cures rapidly to form a flexible, transparent bond that absorbs shock and distributes load. It is especially effective for bonding polycarbonate to itself without inducing stress-cracking even under typical moulded stress levels. The adhesive also shows strong adhesion to a wide range of substrates including glass, many plastics and most metals. Its one-component formulation and thixotropic consistency simplify dispensing and reduce mess, making it suitable for industrial manufacturing or medical-device assembly where clean, reliable bonding is essential.
Specifications
Viscosity: medium, thixotropic (approximately 2500–5000 mPa·s, Brookfield RVT at 25 °C) Cure method: UV or visible light exposure; one-component system Substrate compatibility: polycarbonate, many plastics, glass, most metals Bond characteristics: flexible, transparent, shock-absorbing bonds Applications: suitable for assemblies requiring clarity, flexibility or medical-grade compatibility (ISO 10993 compliant) when required Primary Chemistry:
Acrylated urethane (UV/visible light-curable acrylic adhesive)
Features & Benefits
Rapid UV/visible-light cure reduces production cycle time while maintaining strong bonds.
Medium viscosity with thixotropic behaviour allows precise application and minimises migration of liquid before curing.
Flexible cured bond resists stress and shock, supporting load-bearing and shock-absorbing joints.
Transparent finish preserves appearance where clarity is important.
Strong adhesion across plastic, glass and metal substrates enables design flexibility and simplifies inventory.
Single-component system removes the need for mixing, reducing handling complexity and speeding up assembly.
Problems Solved
Eliminates delays associated with slow-curing structural adhesives in high-volume production.
Prevents stress-cracking when bonding polycarbonate to itself under typical stress levels.
Avoids messy or inconsistent bonds caused by run-off or over application.
Supports reliable, repeatable bonding across a variety of materials, reducing the need for multiple adhesive types.
Delivers clear, durable bonding suitable for visible components where aesthetics and clarity matter.
Applications
Use LOCTITE® AA 3201 LC for bonding plastic, glass or metal components, especially where transparency, flexibility and load resistance are required. Apply adhesive to clean, dry surfaces, assemble parts and expose to adequate UV or visible light to cure the bond rapidly. Single-component, thixotropic formula ensures controlled application and minimal waste. Ideal for enclosures, transparent housings, medical-device assemblies, electronics, glass-plastic or plastic-metal bonding where strength and appearance are important.
