Elvacite™ 2550 is a medium molecular weight methacrylate copolymer based on methyl methacrylate and n-butyl methacrylate. This thermoplastic resin is soluble in ketones, aromatics, esters, and glycol ethers. Elvacite™ 2550 is used as a film former and base resin in coating and adhesive applications. The films formed by Elvacite™ 2550 offer good flexibility and adhesion to metal substrates. In addition, the methacrylate backbone of this resin provides superior outdoor durability and UV resistance. For these reasons Elvacite™ 2550 is used primarily in cement staples and structural adhesives for metal.
Features & Benefits
Good flexibility
Excellent adhesion to metal surfaces
Medium molecular weight
Problems Solved
Poor adhesion of solvent based paints, coatings,
and inks to metal surfaces
Adhesion failure and cracking that occurs due to a lack of flexibility
Applications
Metal Coatings; Cement Staples; Structural Adhesives
