Citroflex™ B-6
Citroflex™ B-6 is a specially formulated citric acid ester plasticizer for use in PVC medical articles, such as tubing and intravenous bags requiring a phthalate-free and biodegradable solution.
Citroflex™ citric acid esters are based on natural raw materials, mainly derived from fermenting corn. Citroflex™ esters are not volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and are ideal for biopolymer applications. Citroflex™ B-6 is a completely phthalate-free plasticizer that offers extended low-temperature performance and flexibility for medical plastics.
Citroflex™ B-6 has low extractability into lipid media, making it particularly useful for blood products. It nearly duplicates the properties of di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate while maintaining biodegradability. Citroflex™ B-6 offers a clean toxicological profile and has been field-tested for over 20 years as an alternative to DEHP or di(2-ethylhexyl) adipate DEHA. It is a simple, drop-in replacement for medical PVC compounders looking for similar or improved performance.
