JEFFSOL^® propylene carbonate is a biodegradable and VOC-exempt organic solvent that can be used across many industries and applications. Examples of applications include surface cleaners, degreasers, and paint strippers. Additionally, it finds use as a gellant for clays or as a binder for foundry sand molds.

With high boiling and flash points and low toxicity, JEFFSOL^® propylene carbonate is a useful tail solvent replacement in paints and coatings for PCBTF, also known as Oxsol 100, which has recently been banned by U.S. EPA. For 2K polyurethane coatings, JEFFSOL^® can also be used as a reactive diluent for isocyanate curatives and prepolymers. JEFFSOL^® features a slow evaporation rate with a high flash point, making it less flammable than other VOC-exempt solvents, such as acetone. JEFFSOL^® propylene carbonate may also be utilized as an intermediate to produce materials through carbamate formation, transesterification, hydroxyalkylation, and other means.
