Overview
Aurorium Citroflex™ C-2 citric acid esters offer limited solubility in oils and improved resistance to grease stains. They also imparts improved light-fastness to lacquer formulations. Citroflex™ C-2 triethyl citrate is used as a fixative for perfumes, a plasticizer for medical plastics, a film-strengthening agent in personal care products, such as hair sprays, and nail polishes, and an active in deodorants.
Citroflex™ 2 does not support fungal growth. The citric acid esters with lower molecular weight (Citroflex™ C-2, A-2, C-4, and A-4) have plasticization characteristics similar to those of lower–molecular weight phthalates, adipates, and sebacates in a variety of polymers. When used as an active in deodorant applications, Citroflex™ 2 works by inhibiting esterase activity in bacteria.
