Poly(ethylene oxide)
POLYOX™ WSR Coagulant is a nonionic, water-soluble poly(ethylene oxide) resin. The polymer constituting this resin has a molecular weight of 5,000,000 g/mol, making it relatively large compared to the polymers of other POLYOX™ Water-Soluble Resins. When added to water at 1 wt%, it forms a solution with a viscosity ranging from 5,500 cPs to 7,500 cPs. This resin has excellent film-formation properties and provides lubricating properties leveraged in various applications.
POLYOX™ WSR Coagulant adds a high degree of lubricity to the solutions and films they form. When used in firefighting sprays, the polymer reduces turbulent frictional drag by as much as 80%. This lubricating property of the polymer also makes it an ideal resin for manufacturing lubricant strips used on razors. POLYOX™ WSR Coagulant is also a useful additive for concrete and cement applications, where it helps to reduce the energy requirement for pumping and extrusion.
