Glyclean^® 70%

Glyclean^® 70% is a purified 70% glycolic acid solution that PureTech Scientific designed for household and industrial cleaning products. Glycolic acid pairs a low pKa with a small molecular size, so it penetrates and removes mineral scale efficiently. It also complexes hard-water salts into a water-soluble residue that rinses away easily. Glyclean^® 70% works as a stand-alone acid active or as part of a blend, and in formulation it delivers cleaning performance superior to citric or lactic acid alone.

PureTech Scientific supports Glyclean^® 70% with starting formulations across acidic cleaner formats. Use levels run from 0.5 wt% in a fabric refresher to 10 wt% in hard surface, toilet bowl, and acid truck wash formulations. Glyclean^® 70% serves as the only acid active in glass and toilet bowl cleaners, and it combines with citric and sulfamic acids in shower cleaners, calcium, lime, and rust removers, and truck washes.

The formulations also pair Glyclean^® 70% with hydrogen peroxide in acidic all-purpose and toilet bowl cleaners. Glyclean^® 70% removes mineral scale and urine salts, and hydrogen peroxide breaks down organic soils and stains. In toilet bowl formulations, salt thickening builds clinging viscosity for under-rim contact, and Glyclean^® 70% also works with polymeric thickeners such as xanthan gum. Several finished formulations come out as clear, water-white liquids with a bland odor, leaving room for brand colorants and fragrance.
