HiTEC® 5760 olefin copolymer (OCP) viscosity index improver is designed for formulating automotive and industrial gear oils.
HiTEC® 5760 additive is an olefin-copolymer-based viscosity index improver (OCP VII) engineered to formulate industrial and automotive gear and transmission oils. It exhibits exceptional shear stability for demanding applications and longer service intervals. It can also be used as an alternate thickener to polyisobutylene-based technologies and synthetic base oils in axle fluids. HiTEC® 5760 VII does not contain a diluent oil and is suitable for formulating fluids that meet the specification requirements of SAE J2360 and MACK GO-J.

Some viscosity modifier polymers do not have sufficient shear stability to handle highly loaded gear applications, resulting in poor lubricant performance and shorter fluid life. Formulators will sometimes use polyisobutylene (PIB) to thicken oil, but this can be difficult to handle, pump, and blend. Polyalphaolefin (PAO) oil is also commonly added to axle fluid formulations, but this synthetic oil is expensive, driving up the final fluid cost and making it difficult for oil marketers to be competitive in the service fill market.
