Overview
HiTEC® 5708 non-dispersant, polymethacrylate-based (PMA-based) viscosity index improver (VII) has moderate shear stability designed to meet many industry-standard multigrade hydraulic oil requirements. Lubricants formulated with HiTEC® 5708 additive have met the specifications of Vickers M-2950-S, Denison HF-0, DIN 51524, and CETOP high VI. The additive also provides effective pour point depression for enhanced cold-weather performance.

Problems Solved
Multigrade hydraulic oils can be exposed to wide temperature ranges, which affect viscosity and performance. Viscosity modifiers are added to hydraulic oil formulations to improve the viscosity index, but many viscosity modifiers are susceptible to shearing in high-speed applications. Formulators also consider low-temperature properties, as mineral oils are prone to gelling or solidifying in freezing climates.
