HiTEC® 672 styrene/maleic ester pour point depressant (PPD) is designed for formulating automotive and industrial lubricants for cold environments.
HiTEC® 672 styrene/maleic ester–based pour point depressant additive is used in the formulation of a wide range of automotive and industrial lubricants where cold-weather stability is critical. This includes engine oil, gear oil, and hydraulic fluid. It alters the formation of wax crystals to provide maximum pour point depression and ensure optimal performance in cold-weather environments. Its low viscosity and compatibility with most base oils make it easy to handle and blend. HiTEC® 672 additive is particularly effective in gear oils with high levels of bright stock.

Without effective pour point depressant additives, mineral-based lubricants are prone to gelling or solidifying at freezing temperatures. This increases friction and interferes with machinery lubrication, resulting in wear, damage, and equipment failure. In vehicles specifically, this can result in poor performance and cold-weather start-ups.
