Overview
HiTEC® 008 additive is an adipate ester seal swell agent for various industrial and automotive lubricant applications. It demonstrates outstanding seal-swell performance in all mineral oils and synthetic polyalphaolefin (PAO) oil. This seal swell agent helps counteract the adverse effects of base fluids on rubber and elastomer o-rings and seals. It is widely used in synthetic fluids, as PAO oil tends to shrink seals. Because of its high polarity, HiTEC® 008 additive also enhances the solubility of other additive components in the formulation. It serves as a secondary pour point depressant, improving the low-temperature performance of finished lubricants for cold-weather operation. HiTEC® 008 seal swell agent is suitable for a wide range of industrial and automotive lubricants, including crankcase oils, hydraulic fluids, gear oils, circulating oils, and grease. It is also widely used in aftermarket transmission additives and engine oil stop-leak products.

How do ester-based seal swell additives work?
Ester-based seal swell additives, such as adipate esters, are highly polar and can penetrate the polymer chains of elastomers. This causes the elastomer to swell slightly, filling microscopic gaps and imperfections in the seal surface.
