Capstone™ FS-61 is an anionic fluorosurfactant that dramatically reduces surface tension of aqueous formulations. It is ideally suited for improving the performance of architectural coatings.
Capstone™ FS-61 is a water-based, anionic fluorosurfactant that is APEO and VOC free. When added in very small amounts to aqueous formulations Capstone™ FS-61 drastically reduces surface tension. The reduction in surface tension provided by Capstone™ FS-61 make it an ideal wetting, leveling, and film control additive to water-based paints and coatings. The multi-functional properties of Capstone™ FS-61 allows for the simplification of latex paint formulations. Capstone™ FS-61 is available commercially as a 14% solids solution packaged in pails, drums, and totes.
Note: All samples and purchases of Capstone for new projects and applications must first be evaluated for approval by ChemPoint and Chemours.

Primary Chemistry:
Anionic Fluorosurfactant
Blocking of paints and coatings used in architectural applications.
High surface tension that leads to insufficient wetting and leveling of water-based paints and coatings.
When added to low VOC architectural coatings at low rates, typically 0.02-0.04 active ingredients, Capstone™ FS-61 dramatically improves wetting and leveling thus reducing surface defects. In addition, when Capstone™ FS-61 is cured into a latex film it improves blocking and soiling resistance. Capstone™ FS-61 allows for the reduction of other wetting, leveling, and defoamer additives in water-based formulations and will provide an overall cost savings.
When added to specialty cleaners Capstone™ FS-61 helps to improve the cleaning efficiency. It is typically used in metal cleaning, car washes, and glass cleaners to reduce surface tension. Suggested usage rates range from 0.01-0.03% actives.
Capstone™ FS-61 is used in water-based floor care formulations including finishes, waxes, and polishes to improve wetting and reduce surface defects.
Capstone™ FS-61 also improves re-wet properties in multi-coat application.
Typical use rates in floor care applications ranges from 0.005-0.02% actives.
