HiTEC® 312 extreme-pressure additive is designed with high sulfur content (46.3 wt%) for formulating industrial oils.
HiTEC® 312 ashless performance additive is a powerful, sulfurized isobutylene-based chemistry that delivers extreme-pressure (EP) performance and high load-carrying capability. It delivers a high percentage of sulfur, providing excellent protection in high-pressure applications, and has higher activity than the HiTEC® 313 sulfur-based additive. The additive is particularly well suited for oils in shock-loaded gearboxes. It also shows low reactivity with copper alloys and other yellow metals. HiTEC® 312 is an ashless chemistry and can be used at various treat rates for optimizing performance by application.

High-load applications, such as gear oils, are prone to gear tooth wear and premature failure without proper lubrication to prevent metal-to-metal contact. Various additives provide extreme-pressure properties, but certain applications cannot handle metallic compounds and metal deposit formation from zinc-based chemistries, particularly in environmentally sensitive situations. Additionally, some sulfur-based additives can be highly reactive with yellow metal alloys, causing corrosion and staining.
