METHOCEL™ K15M is a high molecular weight hydroxypropyl methylcellulose thickener. It will yield a viscosity of 15,000 cP at 2% in water and it is commonly used to thicken coatings and adhesives.
METHOCEL™ K15M is an HPMC polymer with moderate hydroxypropyl substitution. It is typically used as a thickener, binder, or suspension aid in coatings, adhesives, or cleaners where a thixotropic rheology is desired. Solutions containing METHOCEL™ K15M have excellent lubricity, are easy to spread, and are stable across a broad pH range. The hydroxypropyl content provides for moderate solvent compatibility making this thickener a valuable additive for water/ solvent blends. METHOCEL™ K15M will reversibly gel at temperatures above 90°C and provide a boost in green strength for ceramics and adhesives. METHOCEL™ K15M is also used to control the viscosity of latex architectural paints and coatings. In addition to viscosity control it also provides improved film durability, storage stability, and easy application to surfaces.
