Overview
CAB-171-15 offers the lowest butyrate content of all Eastman™ Cellulose Acetate Butyrates (CABs). Films made from CAB-171-15 are harder and tougher than films made with other mixed esters due to the low butyrate content and high molecular weight. Also, the low butyrate content of CAB-171-15 makes it less soluble and therefore it's films are more resistant to chemical attack. Coatings formulated with CAB-171-15 offer exceptional durability, chemical resistance, UV resistance, and will typically outperform coatings based on nitrocellulose. Additionally, the use of CAB-171-15 in coating applications improves flow and leveling allowing for coatings that have fewer surface defects and higher gloss.
