CAB-500-5 is a medium molecular weight cellulose acetate polymer with high butyrate content. It is commonly used as a film former in coatings and inks.
CAB-500-5 is a mixed cellulose ester that is used as binder or additive in coatings and inks. With a high butyryl level, CAB-500-5 contributes to high flexibility, high solubility and compatibility with cross-linking resins and plasticizers. It is used in finishes to improve dry-to-touch time, reduce cratering, provide better pigment dispersion and improve coating performance. It has tolerance for nonpolar aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons.
