CAB 551-0.01 Food Contact is a low–molecular weight, cellulose acetate butyrate polymer with a high butyrate content. It is approved for use in food contact applications.
CAB 551-0.01 Food Contact is a cellulose acetate butyrate polymer with low molecular weight and high butyrate content. It is typically used as a film former, cobinder, or additive that provides several benefits to solvent-based and 100% solids coating, ink, and adhesive formulations.
The high butyrate content of this cellulose acetate butyrate polymer provides excellent flexibility in films and great compatibility with pigments, resins, and monomers. CAB 551-0.01 Food Contact is also highly soluble in a variety of monomers and low-cost solvents. When using CAB 551-0.01 Food Contact in coating, ink, and adhesive formulations, better flow and leveling properties can be achieved while reducing surface defects. Films formed with CAB 551-0.01 Food Contact are also highly resistant to abrasion and discoloration from UV exposure and provide faster solvent release. CAB 551-0.01 Food Contact has a low molecular weight that allows it to be incorporated into high-solids formulations without increasing viscosity beyond workable limits.
CAB 551-0.01 Food Contact is approved for use in applications requiring food contact approvals. This makes it especially ideal for ink, coating, and adhesive formulations used in food packaging applications.
