METHOCEL™ E3 Premium LV is an HPMC thickener with a very low molecular weight. It creates a viscosity of approximately 3 cPs when used at 2% in water.

METHOCEL™ E3 Premium LV is a water-soluble hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) polymer with moderate hydroxypropyl substitution and high methoxyl substitution. This thickener provides among the lowest viscosity levels achievable in water-based solutions within the METHOCEL™ product line. METHOCEL™ E3 Premium LV is a useful rheology modifier that provides mild shear-thinning effects. Given the low degree of viscosity it imparts, METHOCEL™ E3 Premium LV is ideal for use in liquid coatings and inks, ensuring good formulation stability and helping to provide uniform film formation. It is also useful as a binder in ceramic applications, where it helps increase green strength and reduce defects due to its thermal gelation properties.
