CAB-553-0.4 is a low molecular weight cellulose acetate butyrate polymer with high butyrate content and hyroxyl functionality. It is a film former used in coatings and inks that require alcohol solubility.
CAB-553-0.4 is a mixed cellulose ester with very high butyrate content and extra hyrdoxyl functionality. The high butyrate content lends to increased film flexibility and solvent compatibility. The extra hydroxyl functionality provides even further solvent compatibility as well as cross-linking sites CAB-553 is soluble in alcohol and organic solvents, it even tolerates a substantial portion of water. When formulated into coatings and inks CAB-553-0.4 improves leveling, wetting, flow, pigment orientation, durability, and flexibility. CAB-553-0.4 is also used in nail care products for its compatibility and solubility in alcohols. it provides improved clear film, flow and dry-time.
