DMAA 80 (N,N-Dimethylacetoacetamide)
DMAA 80 is used as a copromotor in the production and modification of unsaturated polyester resins for coatings and adhesive applications.
DMAA 80 is an 80% solution of N,N-Dimethylacetoacetamide (CAS number 2044-64-6) in water. DMAA 80 is the most widely used copromoter in unsaturated polyester resin formulations. DMAA is most effective used in resin formulations with PG, NPG, or TMPD. Acetoacetates are widely used in polyester resin polymerization for their ability to lower the polymer glass transition temperature (Tg) and solution viscosity and cross-link with other polymers via multiple reaction pathways. DMAA 80 also accelerates the cure time of polyester resins. The low color of DMAA 80 makes it a particularly useful copromoter for polymerizing resins for gel coat applications.
