AAEMA (acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate) is an acrylic monomer used as a copolymer in coatings and adhesive applications.
AAEMA from Arxada (formerly Lonza) is 2-(Acetoacetoxy)ethyl methacrylate, CAS number 21282-97-3. Acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate is also referred to as AAEM. AAEMA is an acetoacetate acrylic monomer used to make acrylic resins for a wide variety of coatings and adhesive applications. Acetoacetates have excellent cross-linking versatility and lower the resin glass transition temperature, decrease solution viscosity for higher-solids coatings, and improve adhesion for metal coatings. AAEMA has excellent hydrolytic stability and weatherability, low viscosity, and low water absorption. AAEMA promotes adhesion to metal, mineral, and wood surfaces. AAEMA can also replace styrene in the production of unsaturated polyesters.
