EAA (ethyl acetoacetate) is a low-color, low-viscosity liquid used in various applications, including as a copromoter for unsaturated polyester resins.
EAA (ethyl acetoacetate) is a 99% purity, low-color, low-viscosity liquid copromoter and intermediate that is readily soluble in water and common organic solvents. Ethyl acetoacetate can be used in multiple applications and is commonly used to replace styrene in unsaturated polyester formulations due to its ability to develop desirable hardness more rapidly. Acetoacetates are typically preferred as copromoters in polymerizing polyester resins for their ability to lower the resin viscosity and polymer Tg and cross-link with other polymers via multiple reaction pathways. EAA is also commonly used as a chemical intermediate and stabilizer in fragrances due to its low color and pleasant odor. It is also used as an intermediate for agricultural and pharmaceutical applications.

Cross-linking versatility
Fragrance manufacturers are particular about the chemical intermediates they use, as some intermediates can have an unpleasant odor, affecting the smell of the final product. Resin manufacturers also use specific intermediates in their formulations. Copromoters with a high viscosity or glass transition temperature can negatively impact the final resin properties. Some copromoters can also cause the resin to yellow, which is an issue in gel coats, colorants, and other color-sensitive applications.
