Larostat® 264A
Larostat® 264A is a quaternary ammonium compound used as both an internal and external antistatic agent in plastics and coatings applications.
Larostat® 264A is a highly effective cationic antistatic agent based on quaternary ammonium derived from naturally occurring soybean oil. Owing to its unique molecular structure and high degree of unsaturation, Larostat® 264A is compatible with most plastics, including ABS, polyacetate, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and PVC. Larostat® 264A is soluble in aqueous, oil-based, and solvent-based systems and can be used internally or applied topically at low levels, typically less than 0.5%, to reduce the buildup of static electricity dramatically.
The thermal stability of Larostat® 264A provides flexibility that other cationic antistatic agents do not. Larostat® 264A is stable at temperatures up to 225°C and will function between pH 2 and 11 with little to no loss of antistatic activity. It also demonstrates compatibility with very complex and demanding chemical systems, even anionic systems. Larostat® 264A may also function as a solubilizing or compatibilizing agent in these systems.
