Primary Chemistry:
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC)
METHOCEL™ K100LV is a low-viscosity type of HPMC with moderate hydroxypropyl substitution. When METHOCEL™ K100LV HPMC is added to water at 2%, solutions containing METHOCEL™ K100LV are shear-thinning and impart high lubricity, making them easy to spread. METHOCEL™ K100LV allows precise rheology control in a solution with low viscosity and has excellent pH stability in both acid and alkaline environments, making it an ideal rheology modifier for cleaning products. METHOCEL™ HPMC also prevents the dripping and sagging of water-based paint and coating applications, improving their application efficiency.
Additionally, METHOCEL™ K100LV features thermal gelation properties. Solutions containing METHOCEL™ K100LV HPMC will reversibly gel between 70°C and 90°C, producing a soft gel. This helps boost green strength in ceramics and adhesives.
