Lupasol® PR 8515 is an anhydrous, low–molecular weight polyethylenimine used as an adhesion promoter and cross-linker in coatings and adhesives.
Lupasol® PR 8515 is a water-free, multifunctional, cationic polyethylenimine (PEI) with a branched polymer structure. The Lupasol® PR 8515 polymer has a low molecular weight and can be added to water- or solvent-based coatings, inks, and adhesive formulations without significantly impacting viscosity. Lupasol® PR 8515 is commercially available with 99% active content as a viscous liquid in 55-gallon drums. It can be easily diluted with water and most polar solvents to specific working concentrations.
Due to its high cationic charge density, Lupasol® PR 8515 is highly effective at promoting chemical adhesion between negatively charged polymers and negatively charged surfaces. It is also effective at cross-linking negatively charged polymers. In adhesive formulations, this cross-linking action increases cohesive strength without negatively impacting adhesive strength. Lupasol® PR 8515 is also ideal for flocculating anionic contaminants and dispersing cationic pigments.
