LUDOX® HS-40 is a freeze thaw stable colloidal silica with a particle size of 12 nanometers that is used as a binder for coatings and refractory materials.
LUDOX® HS-40 is an alkaline, aqueous dispersion of 12 nanometer silica. It contains 38% solids and is freeze thaw stabilized with ethylene glycol. LUDOX® HS-40 FS is primarily used as a high stability binder for refractory fibers used in high temperature applications. In coatings and adhesives it works to improve durability and cohesion of the system by acting as a cross-linker. LUDOX HS® HS-40 FS can also be used as an adhesion promoter for inorganic surfaces like metal and glass. Because of the freeze thaw stability, LUDOX® HS-40 FS is suited for cold weather climates and situations where temperature controlled storage is not available.
